Bride arrested and handcuffed on her wedding day in Mexico
The bride, identified only as Nancy N by state prosecutors, didn’t even make it into the church as officers ambushed the ceremony. Her husband-to-be, named as Clemente N – whose nickname is “El Raton”, meaning mouse – managed to escape.
A bride was arrested for alleged extortion on her wedding day in Mexico and photographed handcuffed in her big white gown surrounded by police.
The woman, identified only as Nancy N by state prosecutors, didn’t even make it into the church as officers ambushed the ceremony.
She was detained as she got out of her vehicle to enter the church in Villa Guerrero, according to local media reports.
Her husband-to-be, named as Clemente N – whose nickname is “El Raton”, meaning mouse – is wanted on the same charges but managed to escape.
The pair – and others – are accused of extorting chicken merchants in Toluca near Mexico City and suspected of kidnapping four workers from a poultry shop, authorities said.
The prosecutor’s office posted photos of the suspects detained during the operation in December on social media – including the bride in her wedding dress in handcuffs, flanked by officers.
The group allegedly has ties to the La Familia Michoacana drug cartel, authorities said.
The police investigation continues.
